Bruce Jenner’s Facial Scars – Plastic Surgery? Nope, Skin Cancer

When Bruce Jenner, 62-year-old stepfather to the Kardashian kids, turned up at a recent Lakers game with notable facial scarring, whispers circulated that this was the aftermath of a new facelift*.

Well, not so. According to TMZ, Jenner has received treatment for skin cancer after he took a trip to the doctor to ask about a small red mark on his face.

The doctor immediately took a sample and found it to be skin cancer in its early stages. Jenner decided to have part of the surrounding area from around the original mark surgically removed. The former Olympic decathlete sported stitches at the Monday night Lakers game, just three days after his surgery.

The doctors have said the cancer was caught in good time, but have advised Jenner that he should stay out of the harsh LA sun. If he does decide to venture outside, he has been instructed he must wear a hat to avoid exposure. Jenner is reportedly a keen golfer, so his hats are probably going to find themselves well used over the coming months.

Jenner’s cancer scare has, predictably, already become the subject of a Kardashians episode, but let’s not be too cynical here – if anything, it can only raise awareness of such issues to those watching. Best of luck to Bruce for a rapid recovery.

* I say “new facelift” because he already had one 27 years ago – inexplicably, when he was all of 35 years old.
