The Walking Dead fans watched Sunday’s mid-season premiere in shock as they lost another beloved character, Tyreese, so soon after young Beth’s death in the mid-season finale. However, did the episode foreshadow another character’s death?
According to Movie Pilot, there were five big hidden messages in the episode, and one of them was potentially eluding to the death of character Glenn Rhee in the manner that he dies in the comic book series. (Spoilers below.)
The article suggests that there were subtle hints that comic book villain Negan is, without a doubt, coming, and could likely be introduced in The Walking Dead Season 6. In the episode Rick, Michonne, Tyreese, Noah, and Glenn battle going through a barbed wire fence.
There is also a scene where Glenn picks up a baseball bat, and then uses it to kill a walker later in the show. Comic book fans know that in the story, Negan is one of the biggest bads the gang has to deal with, and he eventually kills Glenn by bashing his head in with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, which is his weapon of choice. He calls the weapon Lucille.
Of course this doesn’t mean that Glenn will, for sure, die at the hands of Negan on the TV show. As many viewers know, The Walking Dead likes to switch things up a bit, and even trade story lines among characters to keep fans on their toes.
For example, Hershel died on the show at the hands of The Governor, who beheaded him with Michonne’s sword. In the comic book series, it’s Tyreese who suffers that fate, not Hershel. So, The Walking Dead could be trying to play with viewers emotions, giving us a warning about Glenn’s fate, or even just giving us a glimpse into something they don’t even plan on happening.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, after The Walking Dead‘s artistic and moving mid-season premiere, who knows what’s in store for the rest of the series, but one thing is always for sure on the show: no one is safe.
Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that anyone could be next, and if Glenn were to die in the near future, that would leave Maggie with no one, as both her father, Hershel, and sister, Beth, have died over the course of the past two seasons. Not to mention that Glenn is one of the only original cast members left along with Rick, Carl, Daryl, and Carol.
Do you think The Walking Dead mid-season finale foreshadowed Glenn’s death?
