Will Paul Pogba Become The World’s Most Expensive Player?

Paul Pogba is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the sport today. The 21-year-old has so far been one of the stand-out performers in a Juventus team storming towards their third Serie A title in as many years.

Paul Pogba is poised to shatter Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer fee, according to mega agent Mino Raiola. Pogba has been tipped to leave Juventus at the end of the season. His agent, Mino Raiola, believes that should the highly-rated central midfielder leave in the summer, “he will break Ronaldo’s transfer record.”

Paul Pogba have been linked to clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, and his old club, Manchester United. However, the French midfielder is now linked to join city rivals Manchester City. The rumor comes after speculation over the future of Yaya Toure.

Since the start of the year, Yaya Toure has been absent from the Manchester City squad due to representing the Ivory Coast at the ongoing African Nations Cup.

While Ivory Coast has benefited from Toure’s presence, Manchester City have failed to reproduce the form that saw them reducing the gap with leaders Chelsea. Since his departure, Man City have failed to produce a victory in the Premier League and have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough.

Pogba is seen as the perfect replacement for Toure despite his allegiance to Manchester United earlier this year. Speaking of his time at Old Trafford, Pogba acknowledged that he was impatient.

“He said ‘your time will come’ but it never did. It didn’t come. But it does not mean I will speak ill of Manchester United. I love the club.”

Regardless, Manchester City may struggle to pay the enormous fee that has been touted for Pogba, even if they were to sell Yaya Toure due to prior infractions of Financial Fair Play laws. However, Man City have shown there disdain for the FFP rulings in the past.

The rumors have not seemed to distract young Pogba. In fact, since the start of the year, Pogba has scored and assisted some beautifully crafted goals, stretching Juventus’ lead in the Serie A table over Roma.
