Katy Perry’s Super Bowl Costumes Treated Like Potential Security Risks, Katy Drops Hints About Halftime Show

Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show costumes will have to be scanned before her big performance this Sunday, but they’re not being carefully examined because NBC is afraid that Katy is going to pull a Janet Jackson. Instead, Perry’s outfits are being treated as potential security threats.

According to ABC News, high-tech scanners are being used on Katy Perry’s halftime costumes and any other items being brought inside the University of Phoenix Stadium. To make sure everyone at the event is absolutely safe, the stadium will be peppered with bomb-sniffing dogs and officers with portable radiation detectors.

Katy Perry is known for wearing crazy costumes that shoot sparks and other substances, but it seems highly unlikely that any of her outfits will turn out to be a security threat. However, Katy did promise that the costume for her opening number “will be flaming hot.” Knowing Perry, this means that real fire will shoot from her breasts.

During her pre-Super Bowl press conference, Katy opened up about her upcoming performance, and she dropped a few hints about what her fans can expect to see when she takes the stage during halftime. Of course, Katy couldn’t resist making a deflategate joke while taking questions from reporters.

“Nothing in my performance will be deflated,” she quipped.

According to ET Online, Perry promised that her show won’t feature a lot of lip synching, and she teased the appearance of a very special surprise guest. As the Inquisitr previously reported, this “throwback” star will be rapper Missy Elliott. Lenny Kravitz will also take the stage with Perry at some point.

Katy revealed that she won’t just be joined by fellow humans during her Super Bowl halftime show.

“I’m probably the only person in Super Bowl halftime history that will ever bring both a lion and sharks to the show,” Katy said.

The lion will likely make an appearance during Katy’s performance of “Roar,” but the pop star might not use a real big cat in a cage. According to the Associated Press, a huge digital screen will be unfurled over the field to display special effects. Perhaps images of lions and sharks will appear on the screen.

In addition to “Roar,” Katy revealed that she’ll be performing “Firework.” She said that her duet with Miss Elliott will be instantly recognizable and that “jaws will drop and faces will melt” as soon as fans hear “the first ring of the chord.” Many of Elliott’s songs are easy to recognize based on their openings, so it’s hard to guess which tune Missy and Katy will perform together. Some of the rapper’s biggest hits include “Get Ur Freak On,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “All N My Grill,” “One Minute Man,” and “Work It.”

Katy Perry promised that her show will be the kind of visual feast that she’s known for, and she said that it will “celebrate female empowerment.”
