Zynga Releases Yet Another Game, ‘Scramble with Friends’

Zynga, the company behind such hits as Mafia Wars, Farmville, and CityVille, released yet another game today called Scramble with Friends. The game appears to play off of the success of the incredibly popular game, Words with Friends. The news is surprising because this will be the second game that they’ve launched in one week.

Hidden Chronicles came out Wednesday, yesterday. Scramble with Friends is a game for iOS just like it’s predecessor. When it comes to how Zynga is going to monetize the game, they’ll be sticking to their traditional model of a token system.

What is the game and how does it work? VatorNews explains:

“This new game is similar to Zynga’s ‘Word Scramble’ iOS app, but allows for social gameplay. Players compete against opponents to beat the clock locate as many words in a scramble of lettered tiles on the screen.”

“Each match consists of three, two-minutes rounds to get the most points and your opponent seems the same screens and has the same time limits to beat the first player. For those familiar with Boggle — this is a high-tech riff on the game-night classic.”

“The play option rounds include ‘classic play’ with standard point values for each letter; ‘double down’ where gameplay includes double letter and word values strewn throughout the game board; and ‘triple crown’ where you can log in triple letter and word scores.”

Zynga stock dropped yesterday by 5% despite the launch of a new game so we’ll see how that continues to go nearing towards the end of the week.
