James Franco Thinks Lana Del Rey ‘Isn’t Made For This Earth,’ Solicits Singer In New Essay

James Franco is a bit of an oddball. Lana Del Rey is the very definition. So when the Interview star took to V Magazine with a contributing essay, it almost makes sense that he openly solicited the Ultraviolence singer to produce a film based on one of her concepts.

“She has this idea for a film,” James writes of Lana. “I want to do it because it’s a little like ‘Sunset Boulevard.'”

Franco then continued in detail about the movie’s plot, which, given that it’s deep, ethereal, and wacky, seems right in Del Rey’s wheelhouse.

“A woman is alone in a big house in L.A. She doesn’t want to go out. She starts to go crazy, and becomes paranoid because she feels like people are watching her. Even in her own house. It’s like an awesome B-movie that lives in Lana’s head. It’s about her, and it’s not about her. Just like her music.”

But is there more to it than just respect for her music? Vulture thinks so, insinuating that Franco may have a bit of a thing for Ms. Lana. They’re also completely in favor of the quirky pairing.

“We support this fully: a romance between the indecipherable James Franco and the equally indecipherable Lana del Rey,” the site writes. “They’re perfect for each other and he seems to know it.”

Cosmopolitan agrees, even going a step further to push this possible union.

“James Franco is a very intelligent, very talented weirdo. As is Lana del Rey. We strongly believe they are made for each other and should be together creatively and romantically.”

However, the first step toward making this a reality would be getting the pair into a room together, which Franco admits has been a problem.

“[She] isn’t made for this Earth,” he writes. “I wanted to interview Lana for a book and she said, ‘Just write around me, it’s better if it’s not my own words. It’s almost better if you don’t get me exactly, but try.'”

Another fella who doesn’t quite “get” Lana seems to be Marilyn Manson, who wanted Del Rey as part of a new music video of his directed by Eli Roth. As reported by Inquisitr, the ’90s goth rocker encountered problems when trying to secure her for his video.

“Although I still respect her, I’m friends with her. I just left, I was tired,” Manson said.

Sounds like Lana Del Rey had the opposite effect on Marilyn Manson than she did on James Franco. No word on whether the Manson video, or the Franco film, will be happening any time soon.
