Arsenal News: Alexis Sanchez Hailed As Club’s Best Signing In Years By Former Legend

Arsenal’s capture of Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez has been hailed as the club’s best signing in years by former French striker Thierry Henry. Alexis Sanchez has been involved in more goals than any other player in the league scoring 12 goals and 7 assists, since his arrival at Arsenal.

Henry expressed his delight with Alexis’ start to life at Arsenal.

“He is a very, very good player and you know that if he is on tune, then Arsenal have a lot of chances to win the game. I am trying to think of the last five or six years [to decide whether there has been a better signing]. It is still early days but so far it is very good. He is doing extremely well. He is going to score goals but it is his all-round game that I am so impressed with. That has no price. As a fan you are waiting to have a player like that. Finally we have one.”

Henry believes that Alexis Sanchez can go on to become one of the greats at Arsenal for many years to come.

“He is going to be a great player for many years. Arsenal were looking for a player that can deliver on a daily basis and they have found one. He is brilliant – work rate, he can see the game incredibly as you saw with the goal on Sunday. He scores goals and doesn’t need a lot of opportunities to put the ball in back of the net, that is very important.”

Thierry Henry is currently Arsenal’s leading goalscorer of all-time recording 228 goals at his time in North London. His plaudit will go down as a morale boost for Sanchez.

Club Legend Theirry Henry reflects on Arsenal

Henry recently retired from football after announcing his exit from the MLS franchise New York Red Bulls. The Arsenal legend also took time out to praise former rival and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Gerrard recently announced that he will be joining the MLS in summer. “He is clever enough to adapt over there,” Henry said.

“As a midfielder, he was for me – along with Paul Scholes – unstoppable. I would have loved to have played alongside him. We had so many battles and I always used to say to him, it would have been an honour to play with him. He is the dream for any striker. Ask Torres. Ask Suarez. Ask any striker who has played with him. He still does it – that through ball along the ground or in the air, is a dream for any striker.”

Arsenal are currently locked in a race with rivals Manchester United and Liverpool to claim a top four stop in order to qualify for the prestigious Champions League. Arsenal will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to take on Manchester City. They’ll be hoping that Alexis Sanchez can once again lead the club to victory.
