Bentley SUV To Become Reality, Cost $140,000

Luxury automobiles continue to sell in a down economy and the team at Bentley is banking on that fact as the British-based automobile maker prepares to develop a $140,000 Bentley SUV for the whole family.

The announcement was made by the CEO of the Volkwagen controlled brand and comes just after the company announced their first profit in a three year time span.

According to the Wall Street Journal Bentley saw a 37% jump in automobile sales last year, selling 7,003 of their luxury vehicles, the company expected 2012 to also be a good year with double-digit sales growth.

While a final decision to create a Bentley SUV won’t be reached until the end of Q1 sales it’s a good sign for the company and luxury automobile buyers who may have shied away from cheaper mainstream models that didn’t quite fit their lifestyle. T

According to Wolfgang Duerheimer “If we bring this (SUV) to the market it will be positioned significantly above the vehicles that are currently available in this segment.”

Duerheimer admits that during the currently economic climate the company is “ambitious but realistic” about their Bentley SUV goals.

We already know that there is at least a market in part for luxury SUV’s and Minivans after pop superstar Beyonce pimped out a Mercedes Minivan to the tune of $1 million. In fact her $150,000 sound system was more expensive then the proposed price wall for the Bentley SUV.

Would you be willing to purchase an ultra high-end SUV if it offered the creature comforts of a luxury vehicle brand?
