San Francisco Shooting: Four Shot Dead, Gunman Sought In Hayes Valley
Four men were shot and killed on Friday night in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, according to authorities. The victims were shot in a black 2005 Honda, on the corner of Laguna and Page streets, around 10 p.m. According to San Francisco police, the car was reportedly stolen.
All four of the men died at the scene, according to Officer Albie Esparza, a San Francisco police spokesperson. The victims names weren’t released at the time of the shooting. However, San Francisco police officers were named after another fatal shooting took place over the weekend.

San Francisco police released the names of the two Mission Station sergeants who were involved in a seemingly unrelated incident. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Sgt. Michael Serujo and Sgt. Nicolas Pena were the two sergeants who shot 32-year-old Matthew Hoffman after he reportedly pointed an airsoft gun at the police outside Mission Station on Sunday evening, according to police.
Hoffman died a few hours later at San Francisco General Hospital. Police said that they found three letters on Hoffman’s phone, including one titled “Dear Officers.” The letter told the San Francisco police officers that whoever helped him end his life were not in the wrong for doing so.
The letter read, “You did nothing wrong. You ended the life of a man who was too much of a coward to do it himself. I provoked you. I threatened your life as well as the lives of those around me.”
Police Chief Greg Suhr told the San Francisco Chronicle that four guns were involved in San Francisco shooting that left four dead. Two of the guns were find inside the stolen vehicle alongside the bodies of the victims. Surh also reported that the San Francisco department’s gang task force and homicide units were working on the case, and hope to prevent retaliatory violence if the shooting involved gang rivals.
“We need to figure out why this happened. If we can discover that, then we will know if there is another shoe that is going to fall,” Suhr said. “We need to be out in front of that.”
The San Francisco Police Department is looking for everyone’s help in the case. They’re also hoping to put everyone’s fears at rest as neighbors put up signs that read, “4 People. Rest in Peace.”
“The SFPD would like the public to be aware as the investigation continues, the police department believes there is no threat to public safety in the neighborhood,” a police spokesman said. “Additional police resources have been assigned to the area to address any potential for further violence.”
