Danny Gokey, Model Leyicet Peralta Set to Wed in January

American Idol alum Danny Gokey has found love again.

Gokey, whose wife Sofia died three years ago following complications from surgery to treat her congenital heart disease, is engaged to marry his girlfriend, Leyicet Peralta.

The happy couple posted a message about their engagement on the official website for Gokey’s charity, Sophia’s Heart, which helps struggling people in honor of Gokey’s late wife.

“We are thankful for so many of the blessings God has given us,” Danny Leyicet wrote. “It is our desire to see homeless children and families be kept together and lifted back on their feet through the help of Sophia’s Heart. We love and appreciate you all.”

According to 31-year-old Gokey, Peralta, a former contestant on NuvoTV’s Model Latina, shares his commitment to helping families in need.

“It’s her desire too to see homeless families being helped and for kids who don’t have a lot of opportunities to be given the opportunity,” the 31-year-old entertainer told Fox News. “My heart was touched when she did that because you have to have someone strong with you and in partnership with you to make an organization like this flourish.”

The couple, who plan to marry in late January 2012, requested that any gifts be in the form of donations to the charity.
