Angelina Jolie Directs Brad Pitt In Sex Scene: ‘It Wasn’t Hard’

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are returning to the big screen as a couple in By the Sea, the first film since 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith, in which the pair has acted together. The film is directed by Jolie herself, and is the first in which she is both behind and in front of the camera.

The movie tells the story of a couple attempting to save their marriage one last time, and yes, there will be a sex scene. While Jolie was busy promoting her second directed film, Unbroken, she took some time out to tell MTV News about what it was like to direct her husband in the potentially awkward scene.

“I was the other person in the love scene, so it wasn’t that hard. He knows what I need. He’s always known,” she stated.

Well, now.

The world has watched the couple closely, starting with their original love affair, which began when they worked together on Mr. and Mrs. Smith, something that can’t be easy with so many eyes watching.

Jolie knows that the film’s portrayal of a marriage on the rocks will incite assumptions that the movie parallels real life, but she is prepared to set the record straight.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Angelina said, “Yes, we spent our honeymoon playing two people in a terrible marriage, I’m sure a therapist would have a field day analyzing the films I choose to do. But it’s been 10 years since Brad and I have worked together. It felt like it was time.”

She continued by saying, “I haven’t thought that way for years. Because then you can’t make a creative move if you’re conscious of all the different interpretations. We wanted to be free and we wanted to play. It’s a very creative film. We wanted to try things, so we intentionally made bold decisions… we just wanted to be artists and play.”

Phew! It’s good to know that Brangelina will live on.

However, Jolie has had to face other struggles recently that don’t involve her marriage to Pitt. Leaked emails between Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal of Sony Pictures unbelievably called her a “spoiled brat” and that she was “seriously out of her mind.” Such statements could have set any actress back, but Angelina has maintained her close relationship with Pascal despite the harsh words.

It was speculated by some that such negative commentary on her work was what prevented Jolie from attending the American premier of her most recent directorial work, Unbroken, but once again she set the record straight right away by revealing she had the chicken pox.

Angelina took to YouTube to say, “I want to be clear and honest about why I’ll be missing ‘Unbroken’ events in the next few days I can’t believe it, because this film means so much to me.”

Such poise in the face of challenges is just one reason of many that Angelina Jolie continues to be such a prominent figure in Hollywood.
