Richard Simmons: 80s Exercise Video Guru Still Missing, Says TMZ
Richards Simmons is still missing, and his friends and family members are still worried about the exercise star. According to the latest report from TMZ, close friends of Richard Simmons have not seen him physically in almost a year. The last time anyone laid eyes on him was January 11, 2014. He has also not shown up to his beloved exercise studio since the summer. What’s more, his Hollywood Hills home shows no sign of the holiday Christmas spirit, since the lavish home is devoid of Christmas holiday lighting, gifts, or decorations, says TMZ. The only apparent sign of life is a housekeeper-turned-gatekeeper who rarely allows anyone inside the residence.
News that no one had seen Richard Simmons in nearly a year surfaced in news reports in mid-November of this year. The Inquisitr reported that a representative of Richards Simmons told the public that everything was fine, and that the only reason that Simmons was not making public appearances was that he had suffered a knee injury, causing him to feel a bit down.
Later, the following post was released on Richard Simmons’ Facebook page, where he expressed gratitude to his fans for thinking of him.
“I am so touched by the outpouring of love and concern I have received today. I have had a tough time dealing with this injury, as it is keeping me from doing what I truly love to do and that is to teach classes around the world. Make sure you keep Sweatin’!”
Longtime Richards Simmons fans returned the love.

Some speculate that Simmons’ reclusive behavior could be due to his physical appearance. Like a true diva or divo, some stars become reclusive in their older years because they want the public and their fans to remember them the way they used to be — Michael Jackson and Joan Crawford come to mind. Others say that his fragile emotional state could be the reason for the retreat from public view, according to Showbiz Spy. No word on whether a police report has been filed.
