Amanda Bynes Looking For A Happy Ending Like Britney Spears?

“Britney Spears embodies the Hollywood redemption tale.”

Maybe this quote from Contact Music is why Amanda Bynes sent out this cryptic tweet declaring she was Britney Spears to her fans.

The notably erratic star tweeted her new identity just two days ago creating quite a stir. Fans responded mockingly with statements like “me, too” and “in your dreams.” Although it seems a little out of the blue, the troubled star does have quite a few similarities to Britney’s story.

Back in 2007, Spears had her now infamous breakdown. According to Contact Music, Spears started displaying unusual behavior with her 2004 hasty wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander in Vegas. The marriage lasted all of 55 hours before there was a quick annulment.

Spears then married dancer Kevin Federline in July of 2004, who left his pregnant girlfriend, Shar Jackson, to be with Britney. Their divorce was finalized just three years later. And then, in 2007, came the mother of all breakdowns for Ms. Spears.

Spears spent just one night in a drug rehab facility before leaving. The next night she shaved her head, and I’m sure you’ll remember how she took an umbrella to some paparazzi’s cars. That picture has been used in multiple memes with the quote, “If Britney can survive 2007, you can survive this.”

All jokes aside, Britney was placed in psychiatric hold and was placed under the conservatorship of her father, Jaime Spears. It was then that things began to look up, and the star could finally begin putting the pieces of her life back together. Bynes has seemed to follow a similar path, although with much different results thus far.

Bynes, who is known for her rants and cryptic statements on Twitter, was also involuntarily committed in October. This was her second time being committed, though. Bynes was also placed under the conservatorship of her parents, but according to the Daily Mail, her parents “stepped back after the Easy A actress accused her father of sexually molesting her.” Her parents have completely stepped out of the picture, unlike Spears’ father, and have moved to Texas far away from Bynes and her trouble.

Spears and her wannabe, though, also have one more thing in common – Sam Lufti, the infamous manager whom Spears’ parents accused of drugging their daughter to take control of her finances. Lufti was called into as a crisis manager for Bynes although it appears it hasn’t been working.

While Bynes admitted over Twitter that she is bi-polar and seeking treatment, it’s unclear whether she will be able to recover like Spears did.

Britney Spears was able to overcome her troubles to release popular albums and have a multimillion dollar show in Vegas, and many are hoping that the desperate Bynes can have the same happy ending.
