Hugh Jackman Suggests Possible ‘Wolverine 3’ And ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Appearances?

X-Men and Wolverine, despite the ups and downs, have been very popular comic book superhero adaptations over the last decade. However, the X-Men and Wolverine franchises were in trouble, until The Wolverine and X-men: Days of Future Past revitalized both their series. Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, has been the one consistent fan favorite of all the currently produced films.

At this time, there have been only rumors as to where, and if, Wolverine will be showing up again in the series. Jackman has been giving little hints and teases since his last solo outing in The Wolverine. According to Screen Rant, there has been no official releases or contracts signed, but Wolverine has a third unnamed sequel slated for release, and Hugh Jackman has yet to directly deny his involvement in X-Men: Apocalypse.

To date, Jackman has taken on the role of Wolverine over six times in X-Men and solo films. During a recent tell-all podcast with Happy Sad Confused, Hugh Jackman discussed many things, and among those were how he might soon be ending his lengthy timeline of playing Wolverine. However, not before the unnamed Wolverine 3 sequel, it would appear. He explained that the story is in the works.

“Jim Mangold and I have been working on it really hard and I’m very, very excited about that actually.”

Hugh Jackman told Screen Rant that a third Wolverine film could draw inspiration from the “Old man Logan” Marvel comics. Even though X-Men has another film due in 2018, it remains unclear if Wolverine or Hugh Jackman will be involved. However, Hugh Jackman is slated to be involved in Apocalypse, but official word is still mum from the studios and Wolverine himself.

In the past, he hinted that the third Wolverine and X-Men films will be filmed back-to-back. He also seemed to tease, but never directly said, that he will reprise his Wolverine role for X-Men: Apocalypse.

“You know, I have been speaking to the guys and I am not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on… which is largely framing my answer here, but there’s still a lot unknown about that, actually. There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.”

Of all the rumors that the Inquisitr previously covered, the Wolverine and Hugh Jackman ones seem to be the most promising and most likely.
