Oregon police shot a Hispanic man with his hands up in from of the McMinnville 7-Eleven — but there is more to the story. The graphic dashcam video from the police cruiser details just part of how the fatal police shooting unfolded, according to local law enforcement officials.

Juventino Bermudez Arenas, an illegal immigrant, was holding his hands up when shot by McMinnville police, but the officers maintain that the dashcam video footage proves that they were facing a lethal threat.

Prior to the deadly encounter with the Oregon police, Juventino Bermudez Arenas, reportedly fatally stabbed Linfield College football player Parker Moore. On a Saturday evening Moore, 20, was inside the 7-Eleven store when Juventino Bermudez Arenas, 33, stabbed him. A clerk at the convenience store immediately called 911 and the Linfield College football player was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Juventino Bermudez Arenas, for some unknown reason, returned to the same 7-Eleven store after the fatal stabbing of Parker Moore. The Yamhill County District Attorney stated that the illegal immigrant ultimately killed by the McMinnville police was employed at a Christmas tree farm in Dallas at the time of his death.

When searching into Arenas’ background to determine the motive in the 7-Eleven stabbing, investigators determined that he had been arrested in McMinnville before but was using a different name and date of birth at that time. Due to the aliases, “inconsistent” Social Security numbers, lack of government paperwork such as school records and a birth certificate, along with statements made by his family, the authorities determined that Oregon police shooting and murder suspect was an illegal immigrant.

Family members claim that Juventino Bermudez Arenas had returned to the scene of the Parker Moore stabbing to turn himself in and has his hands up in the surrender position when the McMinnville police shot him. The Oregon police officer discount the statements and maintain that Arenas was still firmly clutching a knife in his hand when they encountered him, adding that the illegal immigrant also appeared “agitated.”

In the fatal police shooting dashcam video, the McMinnville officers can be heard ordering Juventino Bermudez Arenas to “drop the knife.” Arenas is shown continuing to move in a forward motion towards the officer, knife reportedly still in hand. Three police officers opened fire, shooting a total of 15 bullets during the brief encounter.

The local district attorney determined that the McMinnville police officers face a lethal threat as Juventino Bermudez Arenas had moved within 10 to 12 feet of them before the opened fire. The investigation into the Linfield College football player stabbing and the Oregon police shooting is now “basically over.”
