‘Minecraft’ TU19 Gameplay From PlayStation Experience Revealed

Minecraft Title Update 19 (TU19) is being shown off at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas this weekend, and that means video is already being captured of the changes. YouTube user Eckosoldier shared some of the footage from show floor confirming many of the items that developer 4J Studios has teased, such as the Wither Boss and Fireworks.

There is still no release date for TU19, or even word that it has been submitted to Sony and Microsoft for certification. However, 4J Studios must be getting close. The PlayStation Experience videos shared by Eckosoldier appear show that the latest Minecraft builds for the consoles have what looks like all of the content from the Pretty Scary, Redstone, and Horse update.

The video primarily shows the Creative Mode menus, along with the crafting of a Wither Boss. It also shows the player using Spawn Eggs to spawn various horses and mules, including baby versions of the animal, along with Fireworks. While it wasn’t shown in this video, there is an all-new crafting user interface just for Fireworks. The crafting UI from the PC was redone for consoles starting with the original release of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. However, the following tweet from 4J Studios shows that the Firework crafting UI for PlayStation and Xbox consoles remains unchanged from the PC. This will allow for players to use different combinations of materials to create Fireworks, as I previously covered here.

Another video from Eckosoldier also confirms that Stained Glass will be included in TU19. This is the first that we’ve seen of this item, as 4J Studios has not included it in any of its teaser images.

As a reminder, TU19 is the biggest update to Minecraft: Playstation and Xbox Editions yet. It encompasses three different updates brought over from the PC version – The Pretty Scary Update, Redstone Update, and Horse Update.

The Pretty Scary Update added Bats, Witches, the Wither boss, and Wither Skeletons as new mobs. It also brought Beacons and items that were included in the TU14 update, such as Carrots on Sticks, Anvils, and more.

The Redstone Update focused primarily on adding new redstone blocks, but also optimized the lighting engine. Some of the new blocks included the comparator, hopper, dropper, daylight sensor, trapped chest, weighted pressure plates, and block of redstone. There were also some PC specific updates like a scoreboard system, which likely won’t make the transfer to the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Lastly, the Horse Update brought horses, naturally, plus donkeys and mules. It also brought leads to tie to any mob, plus hay, carpet, coal blocks, and hardened clay that can be turned into stained clay with dye.

What do you think of the upcoming update to Minecraft for the consoles? Sound off in the comments below.
