Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Thinks ‘The Voice’ Top 8 Is The Best Ever

Adam Levine went on record earlier this year to criticize The Voice over their lack of a breakout star. But after this past week’s performances, the Maroon 5 front man may be changing his tune.

According to Hollywood Life, The Voice coach Adam Levine was left speechless over the Top 8 talent seen on-screen this season.

“I’m always impressed by these people on the show, and I feel like over time, they get more and more impressive,” Adam said. “So I keep saying, ‘This was the best thing ever’ because it keeps becoming the best thing ever. I don’t know. I’m always happy with the performances. Sh*t. I don’t know what the f**k to say anymore. I’m out of words, guys.”

Levine’s kind words are an about-face for the Voice coach, who was highly critical of the show in an interview with Rolling Stone over the summer. And while Adam thinks his blunt assessment about the show was taken out of context — as reported by Inquisitr — it’s hard to argue with the Maroon 5 front man.

“I’m not going to lie to you, I think there are problems,” Adam told the magazine. “Millions [of people] watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don’t hear much from them. We haven’t had a breakout success like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood.”

That could change, as the Hollywood Reporter feels this year’s finalists are taking big creative risks. However, they do point out that the likelihood of that singer being a female is looking more and more slim, as DaNica Shirey is the sole female contestant left standing.

So is Shirey poised to make a run despite being the only woman in the group? Adam Levine said she could “sing the dictionary,” and Blake Shelton applauded her strength and accuracy, but she clearly struggled with Heart’s powerful ballad “These Dreams.” And while Gwen Stefani was impressed that she stepped outside her vocal comfort zone, she noted that Shirey was “tamed a little bit.”

No, the big winner of the night — and possible breakout talent — appeared to be Adam’s own Chris Jamison who, according to the Los Angeles Times, evoked quite the metaphorical praise from the Maroon 5 heartthrob.

“Levine compared Jamison to Luke Skywalker and himself to a ‘younger’ Obi-Wan Kenobi. ‘My friend, that is one of the hardest tasks,’ he told Jamison. ‘Marvin Gaye is not something you play around with. And you did it with so much love and so much respect and you just crushed this entire audience.'”

Perhaps with Adam’s tutelage, The Voice might finally force themselves into the pop music conversation.
