Baby Gorilla Reunited With Mother After Birth, Video Will Melt Your Heart

A baby gorilla reunited with her mom two weeks after her birth, and the video of their first interaction has gone viral. According to Closer Weekly, the gorilla was born at the San Diego Zoo weighing just 4 pounds, 6 ounces, and had some health complications. Veterinarians took the baby from her mom in order to help it recover from a collapsed lung, but were sure to reunite the baby and mother as soon as they could.

“Veterinary staff felt confident in the baby’s health to release her from the hospital… we brought her back to the house where she’s started visual introductions to the troop. Everyone is very excited to see the baby, very curious,” said senior keeper Matt Gelvin.

The baby gorilla’s reaction to meeting her mother and the rest of her family wasn’t all that exciting. But watching the adult gorillas walk over to see the newborn was quite sweet. The zoo posted the video on YouTube, and it is just starting to go viral.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the San Diego Zoo posted two videos of another baby gorilla earlier this year. The sweet animal laid in the arms of a zoo employee in one of the videos, and in the other, the little one is reunited with her mother. That baby and the one in the most recent video (in this article) were both born to the same mother, 18-year-old Imani.
