Chris Martin Shocks Fans By Revealing That Next Coldplay Album Will Be Their Last

It is written that all good things must come to an end, and it appears that rock band Coldplay may be that next good thing ending if you listen to band leader Chris Martin. Martin gave an interview on Thursday to BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe in which he revealed the title of Coldplay’s seventh album, “A Head Full of Dreams” and said this album might be the group’s last.

“We’re right in the middle of it,” Martin said of making “A Head Full of Dreams.” “It’s our seventh thing and the way we look at it, it’s like the last ‘Harry Potter’ book. That’s not to say there won’t be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something. I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing. Otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it. Then we will go on tour.”

Although he didn’t definitely say that the band has broken up, there were hints to that in the interview which has left Coldplay fans in shock. As reported by Fashion Times, Martin also stated, “Because it’s you (Zane Lowe) and Radio 1, this feels like, ‘Ok I’ll tell you!’ I feel a bit nervous telling you because I didn’t get permission! It was great to go from ‘Ghost Stories’ to go right back into the studio and now we’re making things that sound different.”

Over the past 15 years, Coldplay has developed and perfected their own sound of rock melancholia. With the debut of their first single “Yellow” in 2000, mixing introspective pop and anthemic rock themes that allowed the group permanent residence on worldwide music charts. Although the band was wildly popular overseas, it wasn’t until the 2002 release of the band’s second album “A Rush of Blood To The Head” and its single “Clocks” that U.S. audiences began to take notice of the band.

The band has been nominated for two Grammy’s for best pop vocal album and best pop duo/group performance. The 2015 Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 8 on CBS.

Chris Martin’s marriage to movie star Gwyneth Paltrow in 2004 brought the frontman and his band to more prominence, although they tried to keep their personal lives private. The couple made worldwide headlines when they separated in 2014 after 10 years of marriage in a move they called “conscious uncoupling.” He then was involved in a highly publicized relationship with “The Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence, which ended several months later as reported by The Inquisitr.
