Michael Fassbender Off The Market, Casually Dating Co-Star

Michael Fassbender is tentatively off the market for now. The actor, who is currently filming The Light Between Oceans, is dating his co-star actress Alicia Vikander.

According to E!, the X-Men star is casually dating his co-star, who plays his wife in the film they’re currently filming. A source told the site that “Michael and Alicia are casually dating, spending a lot of time together.”

The Light Between Oceans is a film based on a novel by M.L. Stedman. Here’s a short summary: “A lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia raise a baby they rescue from an adrift rowboat.”

Fassbender is the lighthouse keeper, Tom Sherbourne, while his current girlfriend Vikander plays his wife, Isabel Sherbourne. The director of Blue Valentine is helming the production in Australia.

As described by Amazon, the couple is trying for a child but are unable to. “Years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up onshore carrying a dead man and a living baby.”

“Tom, who keeps meticulous records and whose moral principles have withstood a horrific war, wants to report the man and infant immediately. But Isabel insists the baby is a ‘gift from God,’ and against Tom’s judgment, they claim her as their own and name her Lucy.”

As E! stated, some members of the cast and crew helped Vikander celebrate her 26th birthday at a local hotel near New Zealand.

Before taking up a relationship with his co-star, Fassbender has romanced Zoe Kravitz, Nicole Beharie, and Madalina Ghenea.

Of his relationship with Beharie, unlike with Vikander, Fassbender didn’t date the actress during filming of their movie Shame. The actor told GQ: “Nothing happened while we were filming. We started talking more on the promotion thing.”

He also revealed that he’s somewhat of a serial dater. “I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years. I started doing this (acting) when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it.”
