Amazon Pushes ‘Cyber Week’ For Great Deals On Holiday Shopping

It used to be that you had to wait until after Thanksgiving, commonly referred to as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to score some great deals on your holiday shopping. Amazon, the largest online retail shopping site, has drastically changed the way that consumers shop. They started their Black Friday sales this season on Friday November 19, well ahead of its competitors and Amazon’s Cyber Monday has now turned into a week-long shopper’s paradise.

Amazon has been notorious for starting their sales early, and began having Pre-Black Friday deals to give the consumers more holiday shopping options. Retailers took notice, and are now doing the same in both their physical and online stores.

Of course, it’s much easier to sit in front of your computer and shop on Amazon than it is to wait in long lines at all hours of the night to claim that great deal on last year’s top models in electronics. Cyber Monday refers to the Monday after Black Friday, but now Cyber Monday has been dubbed Cyber Week by Amazon, and actually began the Saturday after Black Friday. Confused yet?

A new feature of Amazon’s Cyber Week is the Lightning Deals that will pop up every 10 minutes with new specials. They are on Amazon’s website as well as in the Amazon app store on Android, iOS, and Fire OS. Again, there’s no real word about what to expect — Amazon wants to keep you in the store for as long as possible waiting for the deals to pop up. The hope is obviously that you will end up buying more than you intended to while you wait, according to BetaNews.

Keep an eye on Gold Box and Lightning Deals. In the thick of holiday shopping season, Amazon will be updating their site with new deals daily and hourly. Some of these specials will offer big discounts and will sell out fast. Pay attention to what’s up and coming, and know your price points so you can move to score a great deal if you find one. You can also subscribe to receive a daily email for the Gold Box deals through Amazon, as reported by The Coupon Project blog.
