30,000 Birthday Cards: Man With Down’s Syndrome Overwhelmed By 30,000 Birthday Cards After Mom’s Facebook Post

Some 30,000 birthday cards arrived for Manuel Parriseaux’s birthday thanks to his mother’s Facebook request. According to Mail Online, Parriseaux has Down’s syndrome, and his mom really wanted one thing for his 30th birthday: Mail. In her Facebook post, his mom said that her son absolutely loves getting things in the mail.

“I would like to make a request to all my Facebook friends – my son Manuel is turning 30 years old on 22 November and he loves to receive cards in the post. He has Down’s syndrome. I’m writing to ask you to take a couple minutes to send him a little card and to pass this information on to your friends so the chain doesn’t get broken,” the Facebook post wrote. “I thank you all in advance for your gesture, which will make my Manu so happy.”

Little did she know that over 30,000 birthday cards would arrive at her door from strangers all over the world. Jacqueline and Manuel live in Calais, France, but they received cards from Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, and the U.S.A. According to IN, Manuel got so many cards that the post office had to make special deliveries by truck every day.

“On his actual birthday – November 22 – a rush of 3,000 cards pushed the total up to 30,000, and some even came accompanied by chocolate, key chains and cakes,” IN reports. Manuel was moved to tears by the kindness of others. Of course his mother never expected her request to go viral or for her son to receive so many birthday cards in the mail, but she is thankful.

“We would never have imagined the impact that a simple Internet message could have in a few days. We are surprised by this outpouring of generosity, and by the messages of support and kindness. The world is not so indifferent after all,” Jacqueline said.

More than 30,000 birthday cards have been received by Manuel, and they keep coming even though his birthday was days ago. He doesn’t mind, though. He still loves getting mail! If you’d like to send a card to Manuel, the address is Manuel Parisseaux, Pablo Neruda Street 36, 62100, Calais, France.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a boy from Massachusetts made a similar request on his 6th birthday. Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, Danny Nickerson wanted cards for his birthday, and cards are what he received. The Foxborough, Massachusetts, post office was inundated with mail for the youngster, who warmed the hearts of people all over the globe.
