Is This Strange Chinese Music Video The Next ‘Gangnam Style’? [Video]

According to ABC News, it may well be the next Gangnam style.

Still, that might be a bit premature. The Chinese music video “Chick Chick” has almost 10 million views on YouTube, “Gangnam Style,” on the other hand, has over 2 billion.

That astounding number led “Gangnam Style” to be the most viewed video in 2012, according to the Independent, opening the doors for all bizarre Asian music videos to achieve enormous success.

Nevertheless, the music video from Chinese pop group Wang Rong Rollin is worthy of its own accolades without being compared to other hits from Asia.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to describe what is happening in the video. There are women dressed as chickens, men wearing animal masks and tight white shorts, and apparently just a few lyrics that are repeated over and over again.

As far as animal related music goes, “Chick Chick” is doing quite well so far. DNAIndia is comparing it with last years “What Does The Fox Say” by the Norwegian comedy group Ylvis for its animal focus.

However, the Chinese music video still has a way to go to even get into the “Fox’s” level of fame; it received well over 400 million views.

If nothing else, the “Chick Chick” music video should help catapult the career of the still little-known Chinese pop star Rong “Rollin” Wang.

It’s just a matter of time before we can expect the next big truly weird animal-related music video from Asia to find a way into our hearts.
