’19 Kids And Counting’: Thousands Sign Petition To Cancel Show For LGBT Stance

The hit TLC television series 19 Kids and Counting may be in trouble — especially if a recent petition requesting the cancellation of the show is taken seriously.

An online petition on Change.org was started earlier this year by Jim Wissick from San Jose, California. According to the name of the online petition, the objective is to “end LGBTQ fear mongering by the Duggars.”

Many critics may have seen this coming — especially after the negative responses and reactions that the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting have received from their most recent scandal.

As previously reported by the Inquistr, the Duggar family decided to remove all of the pictures of same-sex couples kissing from their official Facebook page.

Even with the backlash and negative press that generated from that action, Radar Online reports that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have refused to back down from their beliefs on the issue and their overall LGBT stance.

Although the recent scandal has drawn a massive amount of attention to the Change.org petition, Jim Wissick actually started this online campaign to cancel 19 Kids and Counting long before those pictures were ever posted.

According to the official description for the petition on the Change.org website, it was actually 19 Kids and Counting star Michelle Duggar that compelled Jim Wissick to start the petition earlier this year.

“Michelle Duggar of TLC’s ’19 Kids and Counting’ is warning Fayetteville residents that transgender people are child predators and that the law will somehow protect that predatory behavior. [Duggar’s] words reek of [ignorance] and fear mongering. Just because someone is transgendered doesn’t mean they are a child predator or a rapist. The claim…is nothing more than fear-mongering and spreading [ignorance] and hatred… Transgender people…deserve to have the ability to use the bathroom in peace and safety.”

The petition description also named 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar, criticizing him for taking a position at the Family Research Center.

“The Family Research Center is such a hate-filled, anti-gay organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2010 labeled it a ‘hate group’ for its ‘dissemination of false and demonizing propaganda about gays and lesbians.'”

Jim Wissick decided to eventually update the petition description with a call-to-action of canceling 19 Kids and Counting.

“The Duggars have thrown massive amounts of money to repeal this law so business owners and land lords can evict and fire people solely over gender idenity and sexual orientation! They need to be taken off the air!”

As of right now, the online petition requesting the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting has generated a listing of over 5,900 supporters.

As a response to all of the negative reactions and overall backlash that the Duggars received from their recent decision to remove pictures of same-sex couples kissing, the 19 Kids and Counting family expressed their desire to always stand for truth in addition to the values that they “hold dear without compromise” while also finding ways to “do so in love and kindness.”

On November 13, the Duggars family posted the scripture Luke 6:27 on their official Facebook page – stating that it is a “sweet scripture” that they “hold dear.” The scripture expresses the need to love your enemies.
