Michael Vick Won’t Play on Sunday

Michael Vick will not be taking snaps this Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the New York Giants. The Eagles will likely rely on Vince Young to keep their playoff hopes alive.

ESPN reports that Vick didn’t practice all week with the Eagles due to a couple of cracked ribs. Eagles receiver, Jeremy Maclin, will also be out against the Giants. Maclin is recovering from a shoulder and hamstring injury.

Coach Andy Reid told the New York Daily News yesterday:

“He hasn’t thrown, he hasn’t done anything. He’s come to all the meetings and done the brain work, but I just want him resting that thing.”

According to ESPN, Vick and Maclin did not travel with the team to New Jersey.

Vince Young is expected to take the majority of the snaps tomorrow as the Eagles face the Giants. Young said that this situation was the exact reason why he was brought to the Eagles. Young said:

“It’s not about me. It’s just all about going out there and playing the game and always staying ready. (They brought me here) to come in and lead the guys and keep the same tempo that Mike Vick has… So overall, I feel pretty good, but like I said, it’s not about me.”

Former Giants wide receiver Steve Smith should also see more playing time in Macklin’s absence.

The Eagles, currently 3-6, desperately need to win this game if they want any shot of making the playoffs. Do you think the Eagles have a chance without Michael Vick and Jeremy Macklin?
