Preemie Iron Man Costume: Dad Makes 4-Month-Old Son An Iron Man Costume To Make Him ‘Feel Brave’

A preemie Iron Man costume is making waves online this week after a new dad decided to dress his son in the handmade costume on Halloween. According to The Huffington Post, Collier, 4 months, was dressed in an Iron Man costume by his dad to “make him feel brave.” The young boy’s dad, Eric Hart, wanted to make his son’s first Halloween memorable, but he also wanted to do something that made sense.

“Iron Man built his suit because he needed it to keep himself alive, and he became a hero after that. I thought it would be a good inspiration for [Collier],” explained Mr. Hart. Collier was born premature with underdeveloped lungs. Since his birth, Collier has called the hospital his home. Collier has had some setbacks, but he is a strong little boy, which made his Halloween costume that much more appropriate.

“Having a baby in the hospital means long periods of physical and emotional exhaustion, so it’s important to find little moments of joy to look forward to and remember afterwards,” Hart said.

The preemie Iron Man costume was a huge hit on the internet. People loved the idea, and thought that baby Collier was the cutest Tony Stark ever. According to Hollywood Life, Mr. Hart works as a professional prop maker. He found a pattern for the costume online, printed it on paper, and then scaled it, making it the perfect size for his baby boy. He then constructed the costume out of foam.

“We thought we’d dress him up and take some pictures for the grandparents, the family and some friends. I figured I’d put the little mask on top of him just long enough to take a picture,” said Hart.

Though born premature, Collier has a great chance of having a good life. Technology and medicine has come such a long way that even babies born weighing two pounds (or less) can survive. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a “miracle baby” born after her mom’s water broke at 23 weeks is doing really well now at 9-months-old. Willow’s doctors advised her parents to abort the pregnancy because they feared the child would have “severe abnormalities” because of a lack of amniotic fluid. However, baby Willow is doing wonderfully, and her parents are so happy that they decided to ignore their doctor’s suggestion.

Soon, baby Collier will be thriving at home as well. The Hart family hopes to bring their boy home by Christmas.
