Ed Sheeran Is Launching His Own Record Label

Ed Sheeran never seems to quit when it comes to the music industry. Just this week Ed’s single “Thinking Out Loud” made it to the number one spot of the U.K. charts, breaking a record in the process. Sheeran is also famous for his many collaborations with artists such as David Guetta, Jessie Ware, Pharrell and even Taylor Swift. Now it seems Ed is ready to branch out his musical career even further. Ed Sheeran is starting his own record label.

According to RTE, Ed Sheeran is now looking for musicians and performers to sign onto his new label. Apparently, Ed already has somebody in mind, but he hasn’t revealed who.

Ed Sheeran spoke to the Sun about his new business venture, claiming he’s not going to get to work on the label until his tour next year:

“The door has now been opened I’ve set up the label and I’m going to start signing people. It’ll be an imprint that goes through Warner. But I’ll get the rights back in about 10 years. I’ve got my first signing in mind. I’m looking at people like me, who came through the singer-songwriter scene. I’m going to focus on this when I’m on tour next year.”

The Daily Mail also reported on Ed Sheeran’s new label, claiming Ed has signed a deal with Warner to start up his own company. Ed’s plan is to help talented musicians realize their dreams by finding success in the increasingly difficult industry. Sheeran seems most interested in signing performers who had a similar beginning to him, starting out small as a singer-songwriter.

“Hopefully the acts will be up and running by the time I take time off. The first time I properly thought about it was when I took Passenger on tour for two years. I took him into my record company and played them the record but they didn’t get it. Then I was too busy on my own stuff and I let it slide. Then he had a worldwide number one. After that, everyone was like, ‘Maybe Ed does know what he’s talking about’… I have a tour and Twitter so I can put them (artists) in front of my fans instantly. I can sit down with heads of radio stations and ask whether they will play it on the radio. I’m in a really fortunate position to be able to break acts.”
