PlayStation Plus Subscribers Given ‘DRIVECLUB’ Apology and IGC Sneak Peek

A post on the official PlayStation Blog highlighted yet another apology from Sony on the continued absence of DriveClub PS Plus Edition from the Instant Game Collection as well as a sneak peek at the PlayStation 4 lineup of games for December and January.

Matthew Harper, the senior manager for PlayStation Digital Platforms, began the post with what has become a common message from Sony regarding DriveClub.

We understand many of you are waiting for DriveClub PS Plus Edition to be added to the Instant Game Collection, and we apologize that the game is not yet ready to launch. We want you to know that we’re committed to providing DriveClub PS Plus Edition to members when it’s ready, and the Evolution team is working hard to make it a reality.”

DriveClub has been the albatross around the neck of PlayStation almost since its initial delay announcement in October of 2013, reported by IGN and more recently by the Inquisitr. While the game proper has since released, the PS Plus edition that is exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers on the PS4 is still missing in action. The edition is to have a set amount of tracks and cars available for free and offer a discount to upgrade to the full game if desired.

No reason was given for the continued delay.

As a way to help placate the subscribers to PlayStation Plus for the Instant Game Collection, received a sneak peek at the PS4 Plus lineup for Dec-Jan.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition and SecretPonchos are the next additions to the ever growing library of free games being offered to PS Plus subscribers. Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition was the next-gen release for the DC Comics based fighting game developed by the creators of Mortal Kombat. Offering a stable of characters from the DC universe ranging from Batman to Sinestro, the game is also the first AAA retail game to come to the PlayStation 4 as part of the Instant Game Collection.

The games for January were revealed as well. Subscribers will see the Instant Game Collection receiving inFAMOUS First Light and The Swapper for the PlayStation 4. inFAMOUS is the standalone expansion to inFAMOUS: Second Son in which players will play the backstory of Fetch, the neon light wielding girl who had a supporting role in the core game.

While it is nice to see Sony apologize for yet another delay for DriveClub fans who are waiting for the PlayStation Plus version, we hope the game itself being released to the subscribers will be the next communication we hear from Sony. As for the sneak peek of the December and January Instant Game Collection titles, Sony beats Microsoft with the first retail AAA game to subscribers and that is sure to be answered soon my Microsoft.
