Sinead O’Connor Reignites Feud With Miley Cyrus

Back in 2013, Sinead O’ Connor, wrote an open letter to Miley Cyrus. That letter literally accused the young pop start of being “prostituted” by the music industry. The letter was written shortly after Cyrus said that O’ Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” video inspired her Wrecking Ball video.

Cyrus and O’Connor exchanged heated words publicly for some time. Then, as all things do, the feud came to an end. Now, however, O’Connor, 47, who is an outspoken feminist, has once again publicly criticized Cyrus.

On Sunday, O’ Connor posted a photo of Cyrus, scantily-dressed with a mouth full of dollar bills. She titled her post “Does Anyone Know The Whereabouts Of This Girl’s Parents? Because they appear to be missing in action,” reports the Daily Mail.

“In short, no human being on earth would be photographing, filming or watching my childlike looking daughter dressed as a stripper with a load of cash stuck in her mouth. If you imagine I’m talking bollox remember no one believed priests were sexualising minors either. I have a history of being right about these things,” O’Connor wrote.

O’Connor called the photo of Cyrus the “exact opposite” of female empowerment. O’Connor added that a “whole generation is groomed and silenced.”

After O’Connor penned her open letter to Miley Cyrus in 2013 stating that she was being exploited by the music industry, Cyrus responded with tweets questioning O’Connor’s mental health. At one point, Cyrus advised that O’Connor seek mental health care, reports the Independent.

O’Connor responded to Cyrus’s tweets by publishing a public letter to Cyrus. O’Connor sent two additional letters to Cryus, each more angry than the first. The final letter threatened legal action.

Sinead O’Connor has openly criticized the music industry for sexualizing minors. O’Connor wrote that she believes Cyrus is “unconsciously” doing the same. O’Connor says that she also believes that sexualized behavior by certain artists has resulted in a “double win for an industry crawling with evil.”

“I am not suggesting Miley is consciously engaging in the sexualization of minors. Of course not. But I am stating she unconsciously is,” O’Connor added.

“Their underage audiences have been given no choice as to whether or not they wish to be sexualized before their natural time. This photo is the very image of what the industry has done to music and musicians. And they’ve done it because musicians are the heroes of the young. We’re to look sexy and shut up. And we do it for the money,” the Belfast Telegram reports O’Connor as stating.
