Stay In A ‘Harry Potter’ Hogwarts-Themed Room: London Hotel Offers Guests A Wizardly Experience

Harry Potter fans have the opportunity of a lifetime — to stay in a room designed exactly like Hogwarts! The Georgian House in London decided to decorate a few rooms in honor of the popularity of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter, according to The Mirror.

Serena von der Heyde, a partner at The Georgian House, is excited about what they have to offer Harry Potter fans of any age, as reported by The Independent.

“The Georgian House Hotel places great emphasis on welcoming families and I really wanted to create something fun for young visitors. When guests arrive we light candles and play music as they enter the Wizard Chambers – it’s a great way to give families a unique stay.”

The 163-year-old Georgian House Hotel offers two magical packages to choose from. As reported by Huffington Post, one package includes tickets to the “Muggle Walking Tour.” Many scenes from the Harry Potter movies were actually filmed in the streets of London. This package gives guests the opportunity to see these locations first hand. The Georgian House Hotel reveals that the “Muggle Walking Tour” is hosted by “entertaining guides who will also be able to tell you so much more than you ever knew about London.”

The “Muggle Walking Tour” has been given excellent reviews and was awarded the Time Out London Critic Choice award, as well as given the Certificate of Excellence Award 2012 by Trip Advisor, as reported by The Georgian Hotel. This is an event every wizard or wizard wannabe will want to experience.

Another Potter package offered by the hotel includes a fantastic tour at the Warner Brothers Studio. According to The Georgian House Hotel, guests can take a short walk to Victoria Station, board a “specially designed Harry Potter Tour bus” and be transported to the movie studio where it all came to life — “The Making of Harry Potter” tour. Upon taking this 5 star rated tour, guests will discover unknown secrets about the making of the film, experience the sets and see actual props that were featured in the films.

The Hogwarts-themed rooms themselves, even if you did take any of the aforementioned tours, are an experience all on their own. Fans will be delighted to see the detail the hotel has taken in creating replicas of what was seen in the Harry Potter movies. There are cauldrons, potion bottles, spell books, old-fashioned luggage, and a few surprises not to be given away.

Serena von der Heyde says that although the rooms were designed to attract families, that there have been a great number of young couples who have stayed in the wizard rooms, having grown up with the series, as reported by The Independent.

“I have been overwhelmed by the number of young couples coming to stay in them, perhaps drawn by the nostalgia of their youth with the Harry Potter series.”

Be prepared. You may not see any real wizards on your stay, but The Georgian House Hotel is known to be haunted.
