Donald Trump Questions Obama’s Sanity, Calls President ‘Psycho’
Donald Trump has always been vocal in his criticism of President Obama, from perpetuating the “Birther” theories to his latest tweet, where he slammed the President for what Trump views as a major oversight in the handling of the current Ebola crisis.
“I am starting to think that there is something seriously wrong with President Obama’s mental health. Why won’t he stop the flights. Psycho!” Donald Trump tweeted last Thursday.
Later, Trump expounded on his statement during The Steve Malzburg Show, saying that Obama is “either incompetent or there’s something wrong.”
Trump added, “How could you not, not stop the flights? Even in Africa they’re not allowing the people from West Africa to come in… How can you allow people [in] that could be very, very sick, especially when you see what just one or two or three people have done in Dallas? I mean, it’s like bedlam.”
Trump explained that, as a “dealmaker,” he has an understanding of people, even when disagreeing with them on certain issues, but when it comes to Obama’s decision not to halt flights coming in from West Africa, he just doesn’t get it.
“If you take a look at the whole thing about stopping the flights, I don’t understand that,” Trump said. “How could you not not stop the flights?”
When pressed by Malzberg to explain, Donald Trump simply repeated what he had said earlier, stating, “There’s something wrong and nobody knows what it is but there’s something wrong. There’s so many bad decisions. Can anybody be that incompetent? There’s something wrong, there’s something going on.”
However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has repeatedly stated that sealing the borders and cutting off flights would actually undermine the current and ongoing efforts to track those who are infected and halt the spread of Ebola.
CDC chief Thomas Frieden told Congress Thursday, “If we try to eliminate travel, the possibility that some will travel over land, will come from other places and we don’t know that they’re coming in, will mean that we won’t be able to do multiple things.”
He added, “Borders can be porous, especially in this part of the world.”
The State Department has warned U.S. citizens against non-essential travel to Liberia and Sierra Leone, but restricting global flights ignores the way Ebola is transmitted, according to several global health organizations.
But Donald Trump isn’t letting that stop him. He took to Twitter yet again, tweeting, “Looks like Obama will not stop the very potentially dangerous flights to and from West Africa. What the hell is wrong with this guy?”
