Beavis and Butt-Head Return Draws 3.3 Million Viewers

Much to the delight of the feeble minded, 90’s cult classic TV show Beavis and Butt-Head returned to Mtv this Thursday after a 13 year absence.

The animated series, which aired on MTV from 1993-1997, proved to be a huge success as 3.3 million people tuned in for the show’s revival.

In MTV’s target demo, the 12-34 age group, the show scored a 2.6 rating, according to statistics provided by Zap2it.com. The stats went on to show that the premiere performed incredibly well with males, who comprised over two-thirds of the audience, coming in only second behind only megahit Jersey Shore in terms of ratings in the Male 12-34 group.

The revival still features the same two dense teenagers, who have failed to age or mature over the 13 years since they last appeared on TV, covering the latest pop culture phenomena including 16 And Pregnant, Jersey Shore and ABC’s The Bachelor.

“They’re the same boneheads sitting on the same couch, commenting on things through a really simple prism,” MTV president Van Toffler told Rolling Stone in the magazine’s March issue.

For those of you that tuned into the premiere episode of TV’s dumbest duo, chime in with your thoughts. Was the return of Beavis and Butt-Head as good as the original or did it leave you wanting?
