Patriots Trading Tom Brady? ‘Things Aren’t Always In My Control’ Says New England QB

Will New England Patriots QB Tom Brady finish his NFL career with another team? CBS Sports reports that although Brady’s goal is to stick with the team he started with back in 2000, he is fully aware that he doesn’t have the power to make that decision. Unless, of course, he leaves before Coach Belichick decides to ship him off and replace him with a younger player.

“Look at all these phenomenal players that have switched teams… My goal is certainly not to do that. But those things aren’t always in my control. I would love to be here for as long as possible. Hopefully through the end of my career.”

Tom Brady certainly didn’t look like a guy who might be leaving New England after Sunday’s 43-17 win over the Bengals. However, his stellar performance on the field hasn’t stopped the media from speculating that the Patriots and Brady may be headed for a break-up — a rumor that started brewing after the team’s dismal 41-14 loss to the Chiefs on September 29.

ESPN‘s Chris Mortensen recently talked about Brady leaving the Patriots on Sunday NFL Countdown. He stated that there has been tension between the QB and his coaching staff, and that Brady is “uncomfortable” with the team’s personnel.

“The consequences have led to tensions between Brady and the coaching staff, with Brady’s input into game plans, personnel packages, formations and pre-snap adjustments being significantly diminished.”

CBS Sports reports that Belichick has a history of moving veteran players “before they even show signs of decline,” and it won’t come as a surprise if, at some point, Tom Brady gets traded.

“It happened earlier this season with Logan Mankins, who was shipped to Tampa Bay. Which is why we won’t be surprised if Belichick eventually decides that Brady’s trade value with worth more than any remaining on-field production.”

Despite the rumors, Brady did his best to squash rumors that he’s getting dumped by New England during a recent appearance on Westwood One. At the very least, Tom made a valiant attempt at convincing fans, and maybe himself, that he has no intentions of playing out the rest of his career with any other team.

“I love the Patriots. I always say it, and I say it time and time again, there is no place I’d rather play, there is no place I’d rather be. I play for the greatest owner and, to me, the greatest coach of all time.”

Do you think Tom Brady will stay with the New England Patriots for the remainder of his NFL career, or will he eventually get shipped off to another team?
