‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Blu-Ray To Have Exclusive ‘Avengers 2’ First Look

It’s only been a few months since Guardians of the Galaxy exploded into theaters, but the Blu-ray/Digital/DVD release is already on the horizon, with a street date of December 9. However, according to Screencrush, that won’t be the only thing we have to look forward to. Every version (not just the Blu-ray) of the Guardians of the Galaxy release will also include a first look at Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

“Available on Digital HD, Disney Movies Anywhere, 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack and Blu-ray:

  • Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes
  • Making-of Featurettes
  • Exclusive Look at Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Gag Reel
  • Audio Commentary

Available on DVD:

  • Exclusive Look at Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scene”

Guardians of the Galaxy has thus far earned a whopping $645 million worldwide at the box office, which is the most of any first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film has also gone to find its place in the cultural mesosphere of geekdom and pop culture (just Google the phrase “Dancing Groot” and you’ll see). With all this in mind, Guardians of the Galaxy is the last film you would think needed the backing of yet an even bigger juggernaut in the form of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but that’s exactly what Marvel is doing.

The move makes perfect sense. With its release in May of next year, Age Of Ultron will be the first of two Marvel releases in 2015. The Guardians Of The Galaxy media release is the last opportunity Marvel has to promote its biggest film yet on a physical medium, and with the huge mainstream following Guardians of the Galaxy has garnered, they really could not have picked a better way.

There is no information on what this “first look” on the Guardians release will entail, but Marvel fans are undoubtedly speculating on this piece of news. It can be anything from a featurette of some kind, to a sizzle trailer, or if we’re lucky, even a full trailer — though that last one is highly unlikely. Interestingly enough, it was noted by io9 that this is the first time the general public will see any footage outside of this year’s San Diego Comic Con (It’s even possible that the material will be either identical or similar to Comic Con footage).

What are your thoughts on Avengers 2 getting a first look on the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray/DVD/Digital release? Has this convinced you to buy it or had no effect either way?
