Stevie Nicks Opens Up About Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac’s Return

Stevie Nicks is hitting road with Fleetwood Mac, a reunion fans of the classic rock band have dreamed about for quite some time. However, even the singer admits that she was a little surprised that bandmate Christine McVie decided to come back for the performance.

For those who don’t know the story, McVie struggled with anxiety and panic attacks back in the late 1990s. As a result, she decided to leave the band and retire to the English countryside. Although this was essential for her mental and physical well-being, Stevie Nicks said during a chat with Rolling Stone that her bandmate felt the overwhelming urge to hit the road with the group for a reunion tour.

Even Nicks admitted that she was a little surprised that McVie was willing to return. When Christine expressed her desire to hit the road, Stevie offered up some friendly advice.

“Then, last year she called me and said, ‘This is crazy. I don’t need to sit in this castle 40 miles outside London watching gardening shows. I’m ready to come back to the world’. So I said, ‘Get a trainer!'”

Stevie told CBS News about Fleetwood Mac’s laid back rehearsals.

“I thought it was gonna be a struggle, to be honest. I was a little anxious. But actually walking onto the stage, I mean, we started off in a smaller room that didn’t have a stage, that was just one big flat room all on the same level. And it was much more of a laid-back rehearsal atmosphere.”

Of course, this isn’t the only reason Stevie Nicks is in the news these days. The Inquisitr previously reported that the legendary singer recently opened up about her cocaine addiction and her relationship with Don Henley.

Nicks said that, back in the 80s, her doctor gave her a stern warning about her drug habit. If she contained using cocaine, then her life was in serious danger.

“He said I’d have a brain hemorrhage, actually… Sometimes you can’t see it in yourself, but you sure as heck can see it in someone else. And suicide was never my MO. I’m basically a happy person. I was a happy person back then. I just got addicted to coke, and that was a very bad drug for me. It was obviously a very bad drug for Mabel too. She had a gang of rich kids, like Lindsay Lohan today. That same bunch of girls comes around every 15 years.”

Are you planning to catch Stevie Nicks and the rest of Fleetwood Mac on the road this fall? Are you surprised Christine McVie came back to the group?
