While fans of Marvel’s cinematic universe eagerly await the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, a group of talented filmmakers have been working on a fan film pitting Iron Man against the Hulk, a highly anticipated scene in Marvel’s movie that will see the reveal of the Hulkbuster armor.
Anthony McGrath and Mark Cushley recently released some very cool test footage from the project, which will depict Tony Stark doing battle with his Avengers teammate. They also released concept art created by Paul Dolan, according to Geek Tyrant. Though the test footage is only 10 seconds in length, it reveals an impressively muscled design for Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armor, in keeping with Age of Ultron concept art.
The duo have previously animated a short film, Iron Man Mk Z, in order to celebrate the release of Iron Man 3, io9 notes. A two minute long sequence that shows Tony Stark quickly donning his Iron Man armor when the Ten Rings attacks his car, the sequence includes an impressively rendered depiction of Robert Downey Jr.’s face.
Fans have eagerly awaited the battle between the Hulk and Iron Man ever since it was revealed in July that the Hulkbuster armor would debut in Age of Ultron. As the Inquisitr noted, fans have speculated on a variety of scenarios requiring Iron Man to do battle with Hulk in the upcoming film.

The Hulkbuster armor has appeared in multiple iterations since it first appeared in issue 304 of Iron Man. As Moviepilot notes, the armor began as a modular add-on to Iron Man’s usual suit, when he decided he would need something extra to take on the Hulk. By the time of World War Hulk, the armor had drastically changed, becoming a bulkier exoskeleton. In the recently released Original Sin #3.1: Hulk Vs. Iron Man, the armor returned to its original, sleek design, though concept art seems to indicate that it will be more muscular and tank-like in Age of Ultron.
Most recently, fans glimpsed a suit of armor in Iron Man 3 known as the Mark 38 Heavy Lifting Suit, or “Igor.” Deeply reminiscent of the Hulkbuster armor, fans have speculated that it could form the basis for the design which will be revealed in Age of Ultron.
Fans can follow McGrath and Cushley’s Hulkbuster project at Iron Man Mk Z.
