‘Super Smash Bros.’ for 3DS Bug Causes Giant Characters

A Super Smash Bros for 3DS bug is making the rounds on YouTube today, adding to what is already good sized list of bugs for the debut of Super Smash Bros. on the handheld Nintendo 3DS. Most bugs are fairly innocuous, and unless they affect game play, most people find them fodder for internet memes and funny Let’s Play videos. However, a bug in the Japanese release of Super Smash Bros. has surfaced which is does both.

Otaku News first spread the story via Twitter and Facebook of a bug in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS in which you can create your own Godzilla sized Yoshi. The bug is present in the single player Solo All-Star Smash mode in which the player squares off against a small army of CPU controlled enemies. The bug seems to affect all characters at present. When the player is using Yoshi, one of his attacks is to swallow the other player and hatch them in an egg which incapacitates them for a moment. With the bug, the character that has been hatched increases in size. The effect is cumulative as seen in the video below, so repeated “hatching” results in a truly gigantic character.

The Super Smash Bros. for 3DS bug seems to only effect the single player Solo All-Star Smash mode as versus play seems to be unaffected. Other bugs are also present in the game, including the ones complied by Kotaku. Our personal favorite is where Dedede receives a Gordo, a spiny ball, that gets lodged in his bum and never seems to come out for the remainder of the match.

No word has been given from Nintendo if this bug will be fixed in the US release of Super Smash Bros. in North America, which is due out this Friday. You can read our complete list of new video game releases elsewhere on the Inquisitr.
