National Coffee Day 2014: How About A Free Coffee To Start Your Work Week?

If you’re not excited to start another work week, there is some good news — Monday is National Coffee Day. Most coffee addicts start every day with a cup of java at their favorite coffee shop, but on September 29, you may be able to get your daily dose of caffeine for free.

StatisticBrain.com reports that there are over 100 million daily coffee drinkers in the U.S., making this coffee holiday a pretty big deal in the eyes of those who can’t go a day without a cup — or ten — or Joe. Whether you like your coffee hot or iced, raise your mug, or styrofoam cup, and say “cheers” to the fact that some brilliant person came up with the idea to have a national holiday for this delicious beverage.

Where can you score a free cup of coffee on National Coffee Day? According to Restaurant News, there are a number of coffee shops and restaurants across the U.S. that are offering a coffee freebie or discount on Monday, including Dunkin’ Donuts, Peets Coffee and Tea, Krispy Kreme, and McDonald’s. Even Starbucks has a deal available, but unfortunately it’s not a freebie.

Dunkin’ Donuts is giving away a free medium cup of their new Dark Roast Coffee on Monday with no coupon necessary. There is a limit of one per customer, so unless you have a good disguise, it’s likely you’re not going to get a second cup for free.

McDonald’s has been giving away free coffee since September 16, but the offer ends on National Coffee Day. Stop by on Monday during breakfast hours and score a free small cup of McCafe coffee during breakfast hours. Don’t forget, the popular McDonald’s Monopoly game kicks off on Monday, so you may win $1 million and get a free cup of coffee if you’re extra lucky.

Krispy Kreme has two National Coffee Day offers available for customers who stop by on Monday. For those who want a freebie, grab a free 12 oz. cup of house, decaf, or dark roast coffee with no purchase necessary — although there’s a good chance you will end up buying a doughnut while you’re there. If a Mocha, Latte, or iced coffee is more your style, Krispy Kreme is charging just $1 for a 12 oz. cup on Monday.

Peet’s Coffee and Tea is a great place to stop with a co-worker or friend on National Coffee Day. Get a free cup of coffee or espresso beverage when you pay full price for one of equal size and price. There’s a limit of one offer per customer, and you can’t take your beverage to go.

If you’re wondering if the ever-popular Starbucks is giving away a coffee freebie on Monday, the answer is “no” — likely because the popular coffee chain knows you’re going to stop in anyway. However, the Florida Sun Sentinel reports that coffee lovers who place an order for anything on Starbucks.com will get $25 off an order of $100 or more with coupon code RMN25SEPT.

What’s your favorite place to get a cup of coffee? Will you take advantage of one of the National Coffee Day freebies on Monday?
