Is The Katy Perry Plot To Publicly Embarrass Taylor Swift Rumor True?
Is Katy Perry planning to dis Taylor Smith in front of the world? If you believe the gossip, yes, and she is plotting more than just some snippy tweets to do it.
Several media outlets, including The Hollywood Gossip and Yahoo Celebrity UK reported this week that the feud between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift was heating up when an “insider” source allegedly told Heat that Katy was plotting to embarrass Taylor publicly at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) – and she had enlisted Rihanna’s help to do it.
Perry and Swift are both nominated for Best Female at the November 9 awards, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
The story goes like this.
“She and her friends, including Rihanna, are planning on totally embarrassing her at the awards in front of the world,” an insider source allegedly said Thursday.
“They’ve even said they’re just going to talk all the way through her performance and make fun of her dance moves, like Rihanna did to Ariana Grande at the iHeartRadio Awards. And if she does try to speak to them and pretend things are OK, they’ll walk in the opposite direction, ruining any plans Taylor might have to make it look like it’s all fine.”
According the source, Taylor has been trying to get in touch with Katy to mend fences, at least in public because she is afraid everyone is taking Perry’s side in an argument. It seems, though, that Katy is having none of that.
“She was constantly trying to get in touch with her, so in the end Katy just blocked her number. Embarrassingly, Taylor had no idea and kept on trying until a mutual friend broke the news. Taylor was fuming, but Katy just finds the whole thing funny.”
So is the rumor true?
Not according to The Gossip Cop, which is saying that even if Katy and Rihanna wanted to, they couldn’t mock Taylor at the EMAs because she won’t be there.
Gossip Cop quotes a Swift representative, who reportedly told them, “Taylor is not performing, nor was she even scheduled to appear at the EMAs this year.”
The feud became public earlier this month after Swift said in an interview that the song “Bad Blood” on her new album was about a mystery singer, who she wasn’t sure if she was friends with or not. Taylor told Rolling Stone in an interview that the mystery singer “did something so horrible, I was like, ‘We’re just straight-up enemies.’ It wasn’t even about a guy! She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour – she tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
It was soon revealed that Katy Perry was the mystery singer who had tried to hire Taylor’s dancers “out from under” her – and since then the rumors have been flying, including this one reported by The Inquisitr recently,that Perry was dating Harry Styles to get back at Swift.
