A £150 bacon sandwich features edible gold dust, truffles, and saffron as some of its ingredients. Translated from British pounds to US dollars, the world’s most expensive bacon sandwich costs $236.82 USD for those with a delectable palate.
Paul Philips first came up with the idea for the Bacon Bling when he “was looking on the internet and saw a lot of restaurants in America making hugely expensive version of everyday foods.” He told the Daily Mail the reasons why he invented the world’s most expensive bacon sandwich:
“I wanted to have a go, so I came up with hopefully the most expensive readily available bacon butty in the world. I think it’s an interesting way to raise the profile of rare breeds of pig and make some money for my chosen charities too.”
According to Metro , the “Bacon Bling sandwich consists of seven rashers of rare-breed pig, truffle spread, water cress, free range egg, sliced truffles, saffron and edible gold dust, all cooked in truffle oil.” The 41-year-old owner of Tangberry’s coffee house in Cheltenham explains how the Bacon Bling will benefit the world:
“Each one is expensive to make but I’ll keep doing it forever if it means raising money for charity. I worked out the price by tripling what it costs to buy the products so I think that’s fair with the time and effort put in. It is a bit cheeky though, it’s expensive – but hopefully there are people out there willing to part with their cash for a good quality bacon sarnie.”
All proceeds will go to both SKRUM, a British charity based in Swaziland that helps children to play rugby, and Regular Forces Employment Association, an organization that helps veterans return to employment and a normal life.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the world’s most expensive bacon sandwich has stiff competition from the cows out there. The world’s priciest burger steak in Vegas is the $5,000 Fleur de Lys FleurBurger 5000 at Mandalay Bay. The 230 FIFTH Dog just sold for $2300 , making it the world’s most expensive hot dog.
What do you think about the world’s most expensive £150 bacon sandwich called the Bacon Bling?
