Did Julianne Hough Out ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Contestant Who Wouldn’t Date Her?

Julianne Hough recently caused a minor controversy by accidentally outing Dancing with the Stars contestant Jonathan Bennett.

According to The Huffington Post, Julianne Hough revealed that the Mean Girls actor is gay during a recent interview with Extra. Julianne made the very uncool move after telling host Mario Lopez that she once tried to score a date with Jonathan Bennett.

“He tweeted me last year and said, like, I had a nice butt, but he also tagged my trainer, and so I was like, ‘Oh, he’s hitting on me. I should try to go on a date with him.'”

Lopez asked Hough what happened, and she spilled the beans about Bennett’s sexual orientation.

“He’s gay, so I was like, that’s not gonna work.”

The Huffington Post reports that Jonathan Bennett is not actually out, so it’s possible that Julianne Hough just made a major mistake that could get her in a bit of trouble. This is her first season as a Dancing with the Stars judge, and she’s already screwing up by spilling intimate details about the lives of the contestants. However, it’s unlikely that she made the comment about Bennett being gay because she was bitter about the actor refusing to go out with her.

According to Perez Hilton, Jonathan Bennett was rumored to be dating Kyle XY actor Matt Dallas back in 2009. Hilton even shared a photo of Bennett and Dallas attending a Halloween party together. Perhaps Julianne Hough did a quick Google search for Jonathan’s name before asking him out, and maybe this is how she discovered that he’s gay. She probably just assumed that the actor was out.

Bennett might not be offended by Hough outing him. It’s possible that he’s never tried to hide his sexual orientation, but perhaps he just doesn’t feel the need to broadcast it to the world. Some celebrities simply don’t like talking about their love lives.

Julianne Hough is not one of those celebrities. The Dancing with the Stars judge didn’t score a date with Jonathan last year, but she did manage to find a pretty nice Ryan Seacrest rebound in professional hockey player Brooks Laich. Julianne also over-shared some personal info about her boyfriend when she told E! Online that he dances like Steve Urkel.

At least Jonathan Bennett can take comfort in knowing that the judge doesn’t think that he’s as hopeless as her boyfriend; Hough gave Jonathan’s first DWTS dance a respectable 7, and stated that he has great potential. She might owe him an extra point or two next week after turning him into a tabloid story.
