Claire Danes Stars in Showtime’s Post 9/11 Thriller ‘Homeland’

Actress Claire Danes returns to television on Sunday, this time her role has her hunting terrorists in Showtime’s post-9/11 conspiracy drama, “Homeland.”

Danes, probably most known for her role along side Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1996 film adaptation of Romeo + Juliet, will take on the part of a bipolar CIA officer when the show premieres on October 2 at 10 pm ET.

According to OTRC, the show, based on the lauded Israeli series “Prisoners of War,” chronicles CIA agent Carrie Mathison’s (Danes) personal mission to save the country from another 9/11-sized terrorist attack.

Mathison takes personal responsibility for not preventing the devastating attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon and so she’s haunted and convinced that — if only she can figure it out, by any means necessary — the next attack can be prevented.

“Homeland” will be Danes’ first series since “My So-Called Life,” which launched the actress’ career and earned her a Golden Globe in 1995. Danes also appeared in the TV biopic “Temple Grandin” last year. She took home an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of the autistic scientist.
