Plane Crashes Into Ferris Wheel, Only Pilot’s Ego Hurt

A plane crashed into a ferris wheel in Australia this morning, but don’t worry, this is not a story of tragedy. It’s a story of embarrassment. The ultralight Cheetah S200 plane didn’t knock the ferris wheel over. It didn’t cause a fire or kill any people. It simply got stuck in the amusement park ride and left two adults and two children stranded for a few hours.

According to the Associated Press, Paul Cox, the 52-year-old pilot, simply didn’t see the ferris wheel.

Cox said:

“The next thing I knew, I was stopped inside the Ferris wheel. I had no idea for a few minutes and I was just hoping no one got hurt.”

Cox and his passenger landed safely in one of the ferris wheel’s carriages and had to wait to be taken down by local firefighters.

Brett Campbell, a paramedic at the scene, said:

“The kids were fantastic. They were so calm and so well-behaved and very brave. And so were the two gentlemen in the plane. They were just the best patients we could ever hope for, and the best thing about it, no one really had any injuries.”

But local witnesses said that the incident could have been tragic if Cox had crashed a few minutes earlier. The AP notes that the ferris wheel was full of children a few minutes before the crash, but rain before the accident thinned out the crowd.

How do you just not see a ferris wheel?
