Nicki Minaj’s anaconda does want some… more publicity. Okay, we’ll leave alone the troublesome image of Nicki having an anaconda, but you really need to check out these Vines of Minaj twerking it up with some beanpole model dames that red beans and rice apparently did miss.
Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” is the song – or at least the video – of the late summer, and the track has racked up more than 130 million hits since its release a few weeks ago. The racy track has bumped other tunes out of the way, due in no small part to its bootylicious video.
Also, did you know OS X spellcheck recognizes “bootylicious” as a word? What a world.
Nicki’s not resting on her laurels, though. Minaj hit up Fashion Week, where curves are pretty much a sin, and a series of Vine videos shows just what happened when the power of Nicki’s curves met the world of slim fashion models.
Irina Kravchenko, Ewa Wladymiruk, Valery Kaufman, and Aleah Morgan joined Nicki for the twerkfest, which was captured for Vogue’s Vine feed. No word on if Sir-Mix-A-Lot, whose song Nicki sampled for “Anaconda,” popped in to tell any of them that “you ain’t it, Miss Thang.”
In theory, there should be a whole lot of shaking going on, considering the fact that Nicki and the models are reproducing moves from Minaj’s “Anaconda” video. The realities of the fashion world – where “little more than skin” is in – mean that Nicki provides the vast majority of the flesh motion in these vids.
Nicki took the time to plug a little bit more “Anaconda” publicity fare while she shook it up with the models, though. Minaj noted in a follow-up tweet that she will be appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, September 10. That’s the date Ellen will debut her parody video of “Anaconda,” and we must admit that’s something we’re looking forward to.
One thing we did notice in the super-short Vine videos, though, was that Nicki Minaj is looking pretty darned trim as she shakes what her mama gave her. That seems to put the lie to previous rumors that Nicki was knocked up from her longtime boyfriend. Seems like you can’t trust celebrity rumor rags to give you the full scoop. Who knew?
The new videos and the “Anaconda” single, of course, are all prep work for Nicki’s forthcoming album, The Pink Print. That collection, due out in November of this year, is said to be a return to form for Minaj, with a greater focus on her lyrical and technical capabilities and less emphasis on pop appeal. Then again, the lead single sampled a perennial pop rap favorite, so take that as you will.
