Tom Hiddleston Performs Hank Williams Classic At Music Festival [Video]

Tom Hiddleston crashed a music festival over the weekend and performed a Hank Williams classic to the delight of those lucky enough to witness the unexpected event. The British actor, best known for playing the villain Loki in the Thor franchise, demonstrated that he has other talents.

A trained theater actor like many of his British colleagues, Hiddleston is a fan favorite and very popular in the U.K. Not many knew that aside from his inherent talent in front of a camera or on stage, he can sing and very well at that.

If you are one of the millions of fans who follow Tom Hiddleston because of his movies, then you’re in for a treat. The 33-year-old thespian made an unannounced appearance at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan on Saturday night and brought the house down with his performance of the classic “Move it on Over.”

Even though Hiddleston’s performance of the classic was a complete surprise for the audience, it’s not completely out of the blue. Tom is slated to perform as Hank Williams in a movie titled I Saw the Light, set to debut in theaters sometime in 2015.

Not much is known about the plot of the of the biopic thus far, and Tom Hiddleston is the only cast member listed to perform in the film. Marc Abraham is directing and also co-wrote the screenplay along with Colin Escott.

It came as somewhat of a surprise to cast an actor that is not known for his singing, even though his performance at the music festival is quite convincing. Additionally, many diehard Hank Williams fans were vocal about the fact that Tom Hiddleston is very British, and he will be playing an American legend.

Most notably, Williams’ grandson, Hank Williams III said he would have preferred an American actor, such as Matthew McConaughey, to play his grandfather. However, Tom Hiddleston should be just fine. He has proven time and time again that he can undertake pretty much any role that’s put in front of him with no problem.

“It’s a huge role for me and a huge responsibility. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got,” Tom told the Daily Mail in June, and those who follow the actor argue he will do a fabulous job.
