New Apple iPad May Feature Double The Ram And New Multitasking Mode

Apple’s iPad Air line has yet to be updated for almost 300 days, meaning a new device may be expected soon. The new Apple iPad Air may launch as soon as this fall with an updated processor, a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, double the ram, iOS 8, and a new split-screen multitasking mode.

New leaks suggest that the new Apple iPad Air architecture will support 2 GB of RAM, double the RAM in the previous model. RAM is crucial in multitasking, meaning the new Apple iPad Air will be faster and smoother when transitioning between many applications. An updated A8 processor will speed up the whole device, making day-to-day actions quicker and smoother. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor, first unveiled on the iPhone 5s, will most likely be featured on the new model, making security on the new Apple iPad Air quicker, easier, and more secure.

A new feature known as split-screen multitasking may also be coming to the new Apple iPad Air with iOS 8. Split-screen multitasking will allow users to snap two applications side-by-side, much like the Microsoft Surface. This will allow users to better interact with two applications, instead of using the old multitasking feature that only allowed one application to be open at a time. A concept video has been released by Sam Beckett depicting what the new feature could look like.

iOS 8 will also be shipping with the new Apple iPad Air, and WWDC 2014 has already given us a sneak peak into what the new operating system offers. For one, Macs, iPhones, and iPads will be better connected and more unified with Apple’s new Continuity and Handoff features. Both OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 feature Continuity and Handoff and will work seamlessly to unify all Apple devices.

According to an earlier report byThe Inquisitr News, Apple’s iPhone 5c release was quite disappointing, as the “new” phone turned out to be a repackaged iPhone 5 with a plastic unibody. Hopefully the new Apple iPad Air will pack amazing features, without sacrificing quality, to wow consumers.

There are also rumors of an iPad Pro with a 12.9-inch screen, but there have been very few leaks and no confirmation of such rumors. A new, updated Apple iPad Mini will also launch with the new Apple iPad Air.
