Robin Williams Laid To Rest, Cremated Privately, Ashes Scattered In San Francisco Bay

Robin Williams, who allegedly tragically took his own life recently, has been laid to rest, having been cremated in a private ceremony. His ashes were scattered in San Francisco Bay.

The information was reported by Radar Online which obtained and posted a copy of the acting legend’s death certificate, which you can see here.

The certificate was issued in Marin County on Wednesday and states that Robin Williams’ cause of death is “pending investigation.” It also notes that Williams’ funeral took place at Monte’s Chapel of the Hills, a funeral home in leafy San Anselmo, CA.

A few days after his death. his wife Susan Schneider, released a statement confirming that her husband had been in the midst of a deep depression following his recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease:

“Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety, as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly,” she wrote.

US Magazine reported recently that in another statement released by Schneider she encourages people battling with depression to seek help and not let the problem deteriorate further.

Her statement is noteworthy as some people have suggested that it was cowardly of Robin Williams to take his own life in the way he did, especially as he was such an influential comedian and celebrity.

Schneider wrote at length about her husband, whom she clearly loved deeply:

“Robin spent so much of his life helping others. Whether he was entertaining millions on stage, film, or television, our troops on the frontlines, or comforting a sick child — Robin wanted us to laugh and to feel less afraid. Since his passing, all of us who loved Robin have found some solace in the tremendous outpouring of affection and admiration from the millions of people whose lives he touched. His greatest legacy, besides his three children, is the joy and happiness he offered to others, particularly to those fighting personal battles.

Robin’s sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety, as well as early stages of Parkinson’s Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly. It is our hope in the wake of Robin’s tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid.”

Hopefully, the fact that Robin Williams has now been laid to rest in the serenity of San Anselmo, will offer some closure to his family, friends and millions of fans across the globe.
