Sara Parker Bowles: Camilla Parker Bowles’ Daughter-In-Law Is Kate Middleton’s Understated Pal Of Fashion

Sara Parker Bowles might be a new name to most people when it comes to the royal fold of the British monarchy. She’s the daughter-in-law to Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, and a rather understated friend to Kate Middleton. In fact, she might be considered Kate’s understated fashion pal behind-the-scenes.

The 40-something fashionista has a glamorous job, but surprisingly isn’t crazy about the spotlight or being a “slave to fashion.”

Sara is married to Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles. The couple married in 2005 and the brief media attention made Sara somewhat uncomfortable, but after she and her husband had children, she claims the paparazzi was no longer interested because they were suddenly a “boring” family.

Parker Bowles has worked for glamor magazines all her life. She’s the PA to Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue and now as associate editor of Harper’s Bazaar. She’s also the senior editor of Town & Country magazine, the UK edition.

With all her fashion credentials, what does Sara have to say about the famous royals she’s associated with?

Speaking with The Telegraph: this is what Sara says about Camilla Parker Bowles:

“Tom’s mother is just not a very formal person.”

She adds:

“Recently, Tom’s mother took me and my sister-in-law, Laura, and the kids to see The Lion King, and then we just went back to have tea at Clarence House. They’re completely relaxed, the whole network of people who work in the household team are very welcoming.”

Camilla also enjoys making roast dinner and scrambled eggs for the family at home.

And on the subject of Kate Middleton, Sara offers this about the Duchess of Cambridge:

“We’ve talked about designers we admire in the past and she’s always very complimentary about what I wear but, clearly, she feels she’s got more important things to think about – and that’s what makes her so endearing.”

When Sara got married, her wedding dress was by the same designer as Kate Middleon’s — Alexander McQueen. She and Kate also have the same taste when it comes to J Brand jeans.

Sara gets designer label shoes from sample bargain sales. She loves wearing Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo and Charlotte Olympia shoes. The report goes on to say that her “fail-safe smart shoes are a pair of Tabitha Simmons kitten-heel slingbacks; but when she’s running around town she opts for trainers, invariably Adidas Gazelles, because although she wishes she could bop around in Nike hi-tops.”

“I just don’t think they suit me,” Sara says.

Duchess Kate certainly has another valuable connection in the fashion world, in addition to countless others. Her relationship with Sara Parker Bowles is a low-profile one, if they’re close in any way. In fact, the report states that Sara’s royal connections are “resolutely low-key.”

Unless someone is an avid royal watcher, few would know Camilla Parker Bowles had such a stylish daughter-in-law.
