‘Harry Potter’ Character Gets A New Story: J.K. Rowling Shares The Tale Of The Singing Sorceress

Harry Potter fans, rejoice! J.K. Rowling has released a new story about a character from the books. The author continues to revisit the wizarding world on the Pottermore website, a magical place mere Muggles can go whenever they miss their favorite Hogwarts students.

However, J.K. Rowling’s latest Harry Potter story doesn’t center on Harry, Ron, or Hermione. Instead it’s the short, 500-word biography of one of the Rowling’s favorite Harry Potter characters, a singing sorceress named Celestina Warbeck. The celebrity is mentioned a few times in the Harry Potter books, and she’s Molly Weasley’s favorite singer.

J.K. Rowling shared Celestina Warbeck’s story on Pottermore and the TODAY website. According to the author, the Singing Sorceress is a glamorous witch who resembles “Goldfinger” singer Shirley Bassey. Like Harry Potter, she belonged to the house of Gryffindor. Her mother is a Muggle, and one of her special talents is the ability to drown out a chorus of banshees with her sonorous singing voice.

Celestina Warbeck’s love life sounds like it’s partially based on that of Britney Spears:

“Celestina’s personal life has provided much fodder for the gossip columns of the Daily Prophet. An early marriage to a backing dancer lasted only a year; Celestina then married her manager, with whom she had a son, only to leave him for the composer Irving Warble ten years later.”

The Singing Sorceress’s hit songs include “You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me” and “A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love.” Here’s a sampling of some Celestina lyrics from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

“Oh, come and stir my cauldron / And if you do it right / I’ll boil you up some hot, strong love / to keep you warm tonight.”

Pretty racy stuff, right? According to Pottermore, Celestina Warbeck performs daily at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida. You can check out a Celestina performance below.

If that’s not enough Harry Potter for you, don’t worry — you’ll get to revisit the wizarding world very soon. As The Inquisitr previously reported, Warner Bros. is producing a series of spinoff movies based on one of Harry Potter’s textbooks, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. J.K. Rowling is penning the screenplay, and she revealed that the movie will begin in New York, seventy years before Harry Potter’s story starts. It will tell the tale of magizoologist Newt Scamander and his encounters with “fantastic beasts.”

And in other exciting Harry Potter news, Universal Orlando Resort recently announced that it will be hosting the be hosting the second annual “A Celebration of Harry Potter” event from January 30 to February 1, 2015. According to the Universal Orlando blog, Harry Potter fans will be treated to a Q&A with members of the cast, breakfast at the Three Broomsticks, and an evening event in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. They’ll also receive a welcome parcel and a commemorative merchandise item. A limited number of exclusive event vacation packages will go on sale at noon (EST) on August 21.

What do you think of J.K. Rowling’s latest Harry Potter story? Should Celestina Warbeck also get her own spinoff movie?
