Did Kirstie Alley Demand a Copter Ride For 9/11 Tribute?

It’s been awhile since Kirstie Alley has headlined a hit show like Cheers, but a new rumor suggests the star may not be afraid to throw around her star power- if the report is accurate.

Kirstie- who has to be the most amazing looking 60-year-old walking the Earth right now- made an appearance at Fashion Week, and tweeted beforehand:

Waaaa Hooooo!!! Kitty is ready to walk the Cat!!! False Bravado will guide me…Let’s have some fun @ZANGTOI!!!

But ahead of her Zang Toi runway sting, Alley made an appearance over the weekend on Long Island for a tribute to those lost on September 11th. Hundreds of firefighters and policemen got together at Carlyle on the Green, a restaurant at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY and Alley graciously agreed to attend the memorial fete. But soon after, organizers accused the formerly “fat actress” of engaging in diva-like demands in order to appear.

According to a source, Alley “demanded” a helicopter ride to the destination, which is about an hour outside Manhattan. The source claimed:

“[Alley] had a set of demands that she wanted met before she made the appearance… she almost canceled the appearance because she couldn’t get a helicopter.”

A second source huffed:

“We couldn’t believe it. It’s a memorial service, not a party.”

Reps for Alley didn’t deny part of the story- however, plausibly, they indicate that the confusion was over planning and the Dancing With the Stars star didn’t “demand” a thing:

“Kirstie was coming from Pennsylvania that morning, and was simply exploring all options of transportation, from Amtrak to helicopter, in order to ensure she made it on time to respect those being remembered. At no point was a demand made. Also, she ended up taking an SUV, not a limo… Further, at no point did she consider canceling the appearance and was happy to honor the firefighters, police officers and emergency services personnel in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11.”

Do you think Alley got too big for her britches, or is the restaurant trying to whip up some free publicity?
